Children’s Ministry
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. Deuteronomy 6:4-7

Through teaching, experiential learning, music, movement and fun, children’s ministry activities guide our children from birth through 5th grade toward building a Biblical foundation rooted in the love and example of Jesus.  Our children can explore their faith and curiosity in age-appropriate activities throughout the year.  At Rockwood First Baptist, it is our prayer that by encouraging meaningful opportunities for growing a child’s faith and engaging peers in the process, these children will continue to pursue a life-long path of following Jesus.  All of this is made possible through the service, dedication and involvement of our wonderful Children’s Director, Sonya Storey, and our many volunteers, covered in prayer!

TeamKID is a fun, high-energy ministry that encourages children to know Jesus Christ and grow in a relationship with Him. All parts of TeamKID-Bible stories, Scripture memory, life application, missions, and recreation-connect to teach life lessons to children. TeamKID is designed for children to do more than memorize Scripture. It helps children understand what the verses they memorize mean because all parts of the TeamKID meeting focus on one Bible message. The games, Bible story, memory verse, missions, refreshments, and conclusion all contribute to help children understand and apply God’s Word to their lives.

Provided for children in grades Pre-K to 3rd grade, Children’s church is a time designed to be a worship service at the grade school level. The children enjoy sharing prayer requests, singing, taking an offering, playing games, memorizing scripture, and listening to a message from God’s Word.

Preschool is an exciting time in a child’s life, where they develop an understanding of who God is and how they play a part in His plan for the world. That’s why we created Mission Friends — to provide preschoolers the building blocks of faith and teach them of God’s love for all people. Through engaging activities, games and stories each week, Mission Friends will move from a focus on self to a focus on others. This builds a lasting foundation that helps them grow into the next generation of Christ followers who will fulfill His Great Commission.

Girls in Action is designed to help girls in grades 1 through 6 come to faith in Christ as Savior, while making missions an important part of their daily lives. They learn what it means to live a missional lifestyle while they participate in Bible study, missions projects and engaging activities. They also have a lot of fun and build lasting memories as they “travel” to various places around the world when they learn about the work of missionaries. The Girls in Action motto is “Go Forward!” and GA’s do just that — they grow closer to God as they discover their part in His plan and they practice what they’re learning through hands-on missions opportunities. Their experiences lead to a lifelong commitment to Christ, His mission and His church.

An ambassador can be defined as a messenger or representative — someone who tells or reveals truth. Royal Ambassadors seek to share the truth that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. RA is designed to help boys in grades 1 through 6 come to faith in Christ as Savior, while making missions an important part of their daily lives. Their experiences lead to a lifelong commitment to Christ, His mission and His church.
